The UT343A is a high-precision paint thickness gauge that can measure paint thickness on ferrous (ferromagnetic) and non-ferrous (paramagnetic and diamagnetic) metals.
Electrically non-conductive or conductive varnishes on ferromagnetic metals, such as iron or steel (for example: galvanized sheet steel), can be measured by electromagnetic induction (instrument setting symbol is Fe), which measures the thickness of the varnish according to the amount of magnetic flux flowing from the sensor through non-ferrous magnetic varnish for ferromagnetic substrate.
